Help & answers

Six short sections covering how Lares works, citations, the calculator, your account, privacy, and how to reach us.

How Lares works

Lares Pecoris is a veterinary reference tool — it reads international and Romanian guidelines, remembers them, cites them when you ask. It is not a clinical decision support tool and does not substitute the veterinarian's judgment.

Three pillars:

  • Reference — answers grounded in guidelines (WSAVA, ESCCAP, AAHA, AAEP, RO + EU legislation).
  • Didactic studies — learning through anonymized real cases.
  • Consensus — the shared voice of veterinary medicine; no diagnoses, only what the guidelines say.

How to read a citation

Every answer carries its source alongside — which guideline, which article, which edition. If a question has no support in the corpus, Lares says it does not know.

On dosing cards (in the calculator):

  • The "Sursa:" line shows the title of the document the rule comes from.
  • "Route", "Frequency", "Duration" — taken verbatim from the guideline or product SPC.
  • The explicit formula (italic, blue) shows exactly how the dose was calculated.

Red appears exclusively in warnings — never as decoration. Species-specific dosing, contraindications, drug interactions are marked in visible red.

Dosage calculator

The calculator at /calculator is public — no account needed. How to use it:

  1. Pick the drug from the category-grouped list (Antibiotics, NSAIDs, Anesthetics...).
  2. Pick the species (or "All species" to see everything).
  3. Enter the body weight in kg.
  4. Each rule card shows the calculated dose + the explicit formula.

Unit types covered:

  • mg/kg, mcg/kg — per-kg dose multiplied by weight.
  • mcg/m² (BSA) — computes Meeh-Rubner body surface area, then total dose.
  • ml — shows volume; if concentration is known, computes mg equivalent.
  • Fixed dose — weight-independent, shown as-is.
  • In-water / in-feed — for herd species (pigs, poultry), computes water (mg/L) or feed (mg/kg feed) concentration.

The clinical decision remains yours. Always verify the dose for the specific species.
